30 Years of Mercedes-Benz Sprinter: A Milestone in Commercial Vehicle History

HEERO Motors extends its warmest congratulations on the 30th anniversary of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter! This iconic vehicle has become synonymous with an entire class of vehicles and is a guarantee of innovation and reliability.

A Success Story

Since its introduction in 1995, the Sprinter has revolutionised the commercial vehicle industry. It was the first van to have its own name. (Note: The nickname "Bulli" was officially used by VW starting in 2007.)

The Sprinter set standards in technology and safety from the start. Its continuous development is impressive: from the self-supporting body to various wheelbases and digital networking – the Sprinter remains a pioneer. In its thirtieth year, it has also surpassed the milestone of five million units sold.

Versatility and Adaptability

The Sprinter is not just a vehicle, but a platform for countless applications. Worldwide, 75% of all produced Sprinters are modified by bodybuilders to meet the specific needs of various industries.

In Europe alone, around 5,000 companies specialise in vehicle construction. Minibuses, ambulances, crane installations, refrigerated vehicles, municipal vehicles, furniture delivery vehicles... The variants are almost endless. This versatility makes the Sprinter an indispensable partner for municipalities, craftsmanship, logistics, and commerce.

Sprinter Ideal for Special Bodies

At HEERO Motors, we have deliberately chosen the Sprinter as the basis for shaping the future of the commercial vehicle industry. Our D2E Conversion (Diesel-to-Electric) enables the transformation of diesel Sprinters into powerful electric commercial vehicles. Every single special solution based on the Sprinter retains its rear-wheel drive and towing capacity (up to 3.5 tonnes) – just not its diesel engine. HEERO D2E thus provides the complementary sustainability and operating cost tuning as an upgrade for existing diesel fleets.

We are particularly proud of our unique solution for the L2 standard wheelbase of the Sprinter platform. With patented HEERO technology, this variant can be equipped with the most powerful battery – 110 kWh Superpower for efficient work deployments! This innovation is not only a tribute to the Sprinter but also an important step towards our more sustainable future.

Anniversary Celebrations

To mark the 30th anniversary, the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart is presenting a special exhibition until 30 March 2025, showcasing the milestones of the Sprinter. Visitors can embark on a journey through 30 years of van history – from the first generation to the current eSprinter. In Berlin Spandau, the exhibition at the "Van Experience Center" is open until 21 March, and throughout the year, additional "Sprinter Citys" will open in various markets around the globe.

HEERO Motors is also bringing a revolution to the anniversary year – a price revolution in the electric midibus/minibus segment. The HEERO Electric Minibus on a Sprinter basis is now available not only as an electrified young diesel Sprinter but also as a bespoke vehicle.

Conclusion

The Sprinter is more than just a vehicle – it is a symbol of innovation and reliability. We congratulate Mercedes-Benz on this significant anniversary and look forward to shaping a sustainable and cost-oriented future with the HEERO fleet as a circular economy complement.
